The Florida Department of Education has two types of masonry programs in their schools statewide -- Stand alone and Pre-construction.

Stand alone programs focus solely on masonry skill development. 

Pre-construction programs include other trades and Masonry is a portion of the curriculum. 

The Masonry Apprentice & Education Foundation assists in the establishment of this process within the schools and supports activities of the instructors and students via industry.  Read More>
The Florida Masonry Apprentice & Educational Foundation, Inc. Area Representatives participate in Career Fairs or Career Days and speak to classes about masonry apprenticeship. Florida Masonry Apprentice & Educational Foundation, Inc. works with the Department of Transportation in their Regional Career Fairs.

Other activities include a Masonry Showcase, a masonry contest with the winning school receiving a traveling trophy. This showcase highlights masonry careers and is attended by School Board members, local Chambers of Commerce, area mason contractors and masonry suppliers. 

The Florida Masonry Apprentice & Educational Foundation, Inc. conducts the State Masonry Skills Contest annually and support the USA SKILLS NATIONAL CONTEST, having four winners in four years. 

The Florida Masonry Apprentice & Educational Foundation, Inc. is represented on the Florida Skills Board as an Industry Member, The Curriculum Advisory Board for the State of Florida where curriculum changes in the construction trades in the post secondary schools and Tech Centers are reviewed; the advisory Board for the Job Corps in Gainesville and the Advisory Board with Marion County, Clay County Masonry.

Involvement with the Florida Department of Corrections includes speaking to masonry students regarding a career in the masonry industry through out the year. Prisons programs have the option of registering through the state as pre apprentice training programs. Additionally, Pre apprenticeship programs with the Department of Juvenile Justice can utilize this opportunity to train young people and introduce them to the Masonry trade.
