This course provides and in depth tour of the three major sections of masonrysystems.org, BIA, NCMA and IMI websites. The overall goal of the course is to familiarize the target audience with the basics of how obtain technical information on masonry projects from the vast library of resources linked to or contained on www.masonrysystems.org . |
| About the Instructor: |
Don Beers, P.E. is the staff engineer for the Masonry Association of Florida, Inc. Previous experience includes 35 years involvement in masonry industry activities including Management Services Engineer for CEMEX, Inc. Don is a graduate of the University of South Florida and is a licensed engineer in Florida, Georgia and General Contractor in Florida. He served as Chairman of the National Concrete Masonry Association’s Codes Committee, Florida Concrete & Products Association’s Block Committee and is a member of SBCCI, Florida Engineering Society and the Masonry Society. |

How the controls and buttons are set up. How to know where you are on the site at a glance. How to create your personal library by “docking” specific pages of the site. |

Understanding the technical content of the site. How to access the libraries on the site. How to chose a specific wall section to meet the needs of your project. How to drill into a specific detail to extract the embedded technical information. |

Understanding the resources available to architects through other national sites: Brick Institute of America (BIA), International Masonty Institute (IMI) and National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA). Overview of Teknotes and available information for masonry design. |

Understanding the embedded links in the site that carry you to the four corners of the masonry technical world. Also, knowing how to quickly return to ms.o from remote sites. Accessing the interactive areas of the site to share your technical information and experiences on masonry and ask question of the industry experts. |
