  • Masonry Basics—Cement Plant Tour (1 Hour) The plant tour begins with a visit to the quarry to view daily operations.  Follow the aggregates through the entire process of raw mix preparation, klinkering, finish grinding an shipment.  A quick visit to the control room and the quality control lab rounds out the tour.   • Concrete Block & Fire Safety (1 Hour)
    (HSW Credit Qualified) Concrete Masonry Units—current ASTM specifications and how this affects the job specs.  This course will concentrate on quality masonry with an eye for moisture prevention and fire rating determination of masonry wall design.

  • Masonry’s Bag of Tricks  (1 Hour)
    Review each of the components of the masonry wall system.  Develop an understanding of the different components of the masonry wall system: Flashing , drainage systems and appropriate support, mortar properties and how mortar affects the strength of the wall, etc.
